That each year 1000's
of people go missing.
That many people go
Unidentified, Unnamed,
and Unclaimed for years!
Nancy Ritter a writer/editor at the National Institute of Justice and Editor of the NIJ Journal reported about the crisis we face in her article "Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains: The Nation’s Silent Mass Disaster," published in the NIJ Journal No. 256, January 2007.She reported that:
In August 2007, Can You Identify Me blog was born. This blog features one individual who is missing or unidentified (with the emphasis on the unidentified) approximately every 30 days. The posting provides as much known information (including photos) from as many sources as possible about this individual. To add our own touch we have provided each of these unnamed with a temporary name. We did this to show love until their true identity can be discovered. These people need our help. If each and every person on this earth can view these individuals one or more might find their way home.

This is a wonderful article. But it lacks one important piece of information. Approx. date of death. Now this is a key point to find out who she is.
Hi Margaret,
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I think you meant to comment on the http://canyouidentifyme.blogspot.com/2009/06/i-have-family-that-is-missing-me-do-you.html post.
If you note in the third paragraph it states her bones were discovered in Nov 1993. In this instance her remains were estimated to be recent to the time frame.
Thanks for pointing that out. In cases where the remains have been around for months or years, I try to note that in the body of their story. In this instance, it was estimated she was dropped their within in the week of discovery.
Thanks again your support is appreciated. Please tell everyone you know to look at her photo and pass it on to another.
Best Regards,
Rebel J. Morris
