Faith Doe

I was buried in a pauper’s grave on December 2, 1983, ten months from the time I was found in an abandoned basement. For now that day of February 28, 1983 when I was found is where my story begins, but it has no ending.

On February 28, 1983 a couple men scavenging for copper stumbled through the basement of abandoned apartment building located on Clemens Ave in St Louis, Missouri. They did not find the copper they sought; instead they found my lifeless, headless body. In shear horror those men ran out of that building faster than a speeding bullet. They called the police and shortly after the entire neighborhood was swarming with police, the medical examiners office and onlookers.

At first they thought I might have been a woman who had been raped, killed and dumped. Within minutes upon approaching they rolled me over to find I was but a mere child. The cops were sickened by tragedy of my death before them.

They estimate that I was eight to eleven years old. I had been well nourished, well cared for, and in seemingly good health; until that day of course. I had been killed elsewhere, beheaded and then disposed of like a bag of trash in this building, this basement. I was left only wearing a sweater, my hands had been tied by rope behind my back and my head has not been located. The only other distinguishing factor is that I wore nail polish. To be exact, two coats of red nail polish adorned my nails.

The local authorities are doing everything they can and have been for years. Twenty six years have passed. Yet, no family has come forward. No person has been arrested for my death. No one knows who I am, where I came from, or why this tragedy occurred.

My spirit is way beyond the age of eleven and walks endlessly, restlessly until the day someone comes forward to claim me, name me.

This is heartbreaking. This poor little girl, suffering such a horrible death. Someone, somewhere must be missing this dear child.

This is heartbreaking indeed. Surely there is a family out there who loved this precious child and years to find out what has happened to her. May God bring her home to her family, friends and community where they can give her a dignified burial and so they will have answers. And may He lead the person (s)who hold the key to her case to this site where they will be empowered to do what's needed and then come forward with the information needed to solve her case, give her back her name and give her a real chance to receive justice.

Thank you both Kate & ldesherl for visiting the site, reading Faith Doe's narrative and taking the time to say a couple of words.

United together we can get the word out about her and all the others. One day we will find that right person who does hold key to identification for each of them.

Thank you both for your time and dedication to the unidentified. Please make sure to subscribe to the site for email udpates when new narratives and flyers post. And remember to tell everyone you know to visit. Your friends may be the ones who hold that key!

So very very sad.I presume that even with the distance involved that they looked into the possibility of it being Toya Hill?

It's so hard to think that nobody has come forward after all these years and claimed her.

Hi Picking Oranges,

Thank you for following Can You Identify Me. Yes I agree it's very sad.

I do believe the more people who learn about this little girl the more chances she has of becoming identified. Thank you for being one more person who puts her closer to the goal of identification.

I pray that DNA evidence was collected from the sexual assault. If a match is found & a killer identified, then hopefully a name can be given to this poor child.

if a parent never came forward perhaps they are the perp.

I live in St. Louis, MO and my mom is a lawyer and she knows one of the detectives who was leading this case. He said this case haunts him to this day not knowing the name of this girl. From what I've heard is that the detectives on this case believe that this little girl's parents may have been involved in drug activity and sold her as a means to pay off their debt.

1983 I think her mother was on drugs heavy and left her with a monster....and the mother knows who did it if they can find her 22yrs later someone knows somthing is there d.n.a. I mean family members never thouught to ask about the lilttle girl as time and years went on.....this case is really crazy.I know one day there will be closer

Yes, this is one of the most heinous and horrid crimes I have encountered in my many years of sleuthing and trying to help identify missing people, homicide victims and the unidentified. I think many people are thinking the same thing I am. Being that this beautiful child was well nourished and seemed well taken care of earlier in her life, I have to wonder if she was a victim of kidnapping or if her parents themselves are indeed involved somehow. If they have not come forward by now, that seems to say something and it's likely something not pleasant at all. Children are abused, threatened if they dare talk about it to anyone else and some children are indeed sold for many reasons. There is a real problem in this country with sex abuse involving children. At this juncture, I can only hope and pray that this case will be solved one way or another. How a human being could ever do such a thing to another human being or any other living creature is just beyond me and it always has been. I will spread the word again and again about this case and all others that need resolution. Thank you so much Rebel, for putting a voice to these people. It's very helpful! I would also like to say that this site has much better sketches and composite photographs of many of these people too. Better than the other missing person's sites, that's for sure. Thanks again, Rebel! Peace and love to all - BRMc

A few months after I moved to the St. Louis area I drove over to this neighborhood and saw the area where this happened, because this cause has always haunted me (even though it happened before I was even born). The building is gone now, and the neighborhood has cleaned up a lot; there are lots of decent houses, parks, and even a community garden. It was hard to imagine the horrible things that happened there.

There is an organization that takes dna and makes facial reconstructions. They have used it so far in a few other crimes. They aren't exact, but close. They're called Parabon Nanolabs, I believe. Maybe this can help.
