Jane Shively Doe

Do you ever think about how great life is? Do you ever ponder the benefits you receive on a daily basis? Life’s benefits could be major like you won the lottery, or met the love of your life. Life’s benefits could be simple like a walk in the park, or hot cup of coffee on a cold day. On those days you realize that life truly is a blessing. Don’t take that blessing for granted.

Once upon a time I was enjoying the beauty of nature, the sounds of music and the gentle breeze of the winds. That day was a very long time ago. That day might have been my last day to ever enjoy those benefits, at least, in the way you enjoy them now. On July 21, 2005, I was discovered and it was clear I would never enjoy those benefits again. My human remains were found that day. Yes, I was dead. I had been killed; however, not on that day. I may have been killed years earlier. It’s estimated up to fifteen years earlier.

I was hidden in a crawl space. Bulldozers were tearing down an old building at 3600 block of Seventh St in Shively, Kentucky when my remains were found. The building was previously used as an old ice cream supply house. After that it was used as a junkyard, some referred to it as a dump. There I was in a crawl space waiting for someone to find me. And they did! They found me.

Now they have to identify me. It’s been six years since I was found. I think law enforcement can use some help from the public. So here is some information that might help you:
I’m a white female, somewhere between twenty and forty years old. I stood about 5’2 to 5’4. And the most significant piece of information is that I have a very distinctive nose.

Some say my nose alone should get me identified. Well so far that hasn’t happened. Maybe I just haven’t had a chance to have the right people see me. Can you help me find the right people? You know the more people who see me, the better chance I have at finding that one person, who knows me. I think you can help. I want you to help me. Will you help me?

I am extremely grateful for whoever wrote this. My DNA is currently being tested against this Jane Doe to see if she is my mother. She has been missing for over a decade. Over the years on SEVERAL occasions I tried to report this to no avail. Police would say she probably doesn't want to be found, she is an adult and has that right. After time passed I knew something was wrong finally in December 2010 I was able to submit a report. I was promptly called in to submit my DNA in regards to the case. Perhaps this could have been solve years ago had someone listened to me. Even if this woman is not my mother she is someones loved one. Maybe there is a lesson to be learned by this.

Nicole, I know you wrote your message a number of years ago and I am only seeing it now. I can't imagine what you have been through and the pain and perhaps anger you may harbour for those who didn't listen to you. I'm not sure how to say this correctly, but I hope this woman is your long lost mother. Though I would prefer if you could find her alive, it would at least be closure for you in knowing what happened to your mother and it would be closure for this poor woman, who has spent the last two decades or so undiscovered in that abandoned building. Whatever the outcome, I hope we hear about it one way or another so this lady can be taken off the UID lists and be brought home to her family where she belongs. Many thanks to Rebel for creating this site and for all of the hard work that has been put into this site. I am in the process of going through every single one of these UID's as I type this. I'll spread the word and share this site with as many people as possible. Hopefully, the more who see it, the better our chances are at getting these folks identified and sent home. Thanks to Nicole for sharing her story and thanks again to Rebel for a great site and all the hard work that goes into maintaining it. Cheers to all - BRMc

I was wondering if there has been any developments in this case. Nicole, I am so very sorry for what you have gone through. I'm sure your mother has seen what kind of woman you have become, someone that hasn't given up on finding her mother. I hope you find peace.

If this isn't Nicole's mom, can you tell us anything about what was meant about this Jane doe's nose? It doesn't explain anything.

Thank you all for the wonderful work you do!
