Sacramento, California John Doe - What if my name really is John?

Are you familiar with the Sacramento River in Isleton, California? Back in February 2002, the levee water dropped several feet. No big deal, right? Well, for one fisherman back in February 2002, it was a big deal when he saw my human remains banging around on the riverbed.

On February 18, 2002, after receiving a call from the fisherman, the Isleton Police Department found my remains on the riverbank near Hwy. 160. Some of my limbs were missing (two arms and one leg), but it was not certain if that was due to nature or ill intent.

It has been determined that I was a Caucasian male 25 to 35 years old. I stood 5'2" to 5'8" tall, but my weight is unknown. I had a full head of black hair. Upon further examination, they learned that I had previously suffered  fractured toes, a fractured pelvis, and most likely had a herniated disc.

About one month prior to them finding me, I was decked out in my favorite Wrangler jeans and blue print Hanes underwear. I also wore my kickass black Nike tennis shoes. Now, if memory serves, I started that day with a shirt. However, when my day ended, heck, when my life ended, it’s possible I was not wearing a shirt. Then again, it could have just washed away for the month I was underwater in the Sacramento River.

You’re probably wondering if I was killed or if I committed suicide. Well, you’ll have to keep wondering, or make your best educated guess. Don’t forget my missing limbs. Right now, they need to figure out who I am before they can figure out what happened to me.

The next time you see the Sacramento River, remember me!

Sandy Doe – Possibilities and Realities

Could I have been a recent high school or college graduate? Maybe I was a die hard Van Halen or Rush fan. Could I have been backpacking through California on my way somewhere else? Or was I dropped off here by an unknown entity? The possibilities are endless.

The realities are not. My reality is that I met my fate over 27 years ago. On July 8, 1984 my remains were found six miles north of Nevada City along State Hwy 49, 50 feet below a dirt parking area. That location is just south of Independence Trail Head. It appears I might have been strangled. I had been dead two or three weeks prior to someone finding my remains.

The authorities looked for my killer. They tried to figure out my identity. They searched and followed many leads, to no avail. I was killed and dumped in Nevada City, Nevada County, California in 1984. It’s been 27 years and the authorities haven’t forgotten about me. Nope, they are still working very hard to determine who I am.

They can tell you that I was a white female approximately eighteen to thirty years old. I stood about five feet, five inches tall and had a slim build. I wore shoulder length blonde hair. I wore only one piece of jewelry: a yellow gold ring with a green stone. I also had several layers of clothing on when I was discovered.

There are endless possibilities of who I am: a transient, a concert fan, a student, a traveler, or a victim of kidnapping. The list goes on. Why were those five things mentioned? Well, the authorities think I might have been a transient because of the several layers of clothing and the inability to find my identity. I might have been a concert fan because both Van Halen and Rush were playing only weeks before my death. You know teens love to follow their rock bands from town to town. I could have been a student because that ring might well have been a school ring, maybe from high school or a college I had been attending. The fact that I could have been backpacking, hitchhiking or simply traveling through Nevada is possible since they couldn’t find any missing women that fit my description. Then there is always the possibility that I was a victim of foul play and could have been kidnapped. The scary part is that all of these options could be true. The reality is they still don’t help the authorities figure out who I am.

Maybe the re-release of my forensic sketch might jog someone’s memory of what happened all those years ago. Or maybe, my family or friends will see it and call in. Whatever it takes, it’s worth the try.

Three Choices!

Conservation Corps crew, deadhead or homeless those are your three choices! Not really, but those are the clues you have about who I am and most likely one or more of them is possible.

Was I part of the California Conservation Corps crew Delta 5? I was found with a shirt that clearly represented the Delta 5 of the California Conservation Corps, or so Law Enforcement determined. At first the California Conservation Corps (known to some as CCC) refused to provide any information. They required law enforcement to obtain a warrant to view the roster for that crew which was active from 1998 to 2006. After the records were finally received Law Enforcement could rule out that I was a member of that crew. Wonder why CCC made them jump through those hoops. Maybe I was part of Conservation Corps, but not that crew. Maybe I knew someone who was part of that Delta 5, like a boyfriend?

Why could I be a deadhead? First you have to know who the Grateful Dead is to understand the term deadhead. They found me with a Grateful Dead jacket. In turn, one could assume I was a deadhead. Then again, one could simply think I was a homeless person who got the jacket from a shelter. Is that really possible? You really think a Grateful Dead fan gave their jacket to charity? Even if the jacket was completely worn out, which you really have no way of knowing, but even if, come on!

Was I a homeless person? This could possibly explain both clothing items that would have no connection to either the Grateful Dead or the California Conservation Corps. See shelters, thrift stores, etc is a great way for the homeless to clothe themselves. So sure it’s possible that the clothes have no significance. Then again, many deadheads go wandering around. Many deadheads end up in not so nice living circumstances all the time. Many teens run away to follow the Grateful Dead and then are stuck out on their own, hence homeless.

Maybe I worked for or volunteered for the California Conservation Crew, was a huge fan of the Grateful Dead, and had some characteristics that implied I could be homeless. Anything is possible.

By now you are probably wondering why I can’t simply tell you which one is the right answer. The reason for is that I was killed in 2004. A fisherman near Tyler Island Road, Isleton, California found my skeletal remains on March 29, 2008. So it’s going to be up to Law Enforcement with the help of the media, and the public to figure out who I am.

In order to figure that out a few details might be helpful. The coroner determined that I was a Caucasian female possibly with Asian or African influence. I was somewhere between thirty to forty five years old. I stood anywhere from 5’3 to 5’8. Quite a range for you! Hopefully my jewelry and clothing (previously discussed) will help narrow it down a bit:

“Clothing: … a blue "Delta Fire Crew" sweatshirt with two crossed fireman's axes and the number 5 on the left chest area, a "Grateful Dead" jacket and jeans.

Jewelry: … beaded necklace with a crouching frog, a white metal bracelet with green heart charms. Most of her jewelry was white metal and included bangle bracelets and a sword charm.”

What do you think? Was I part of the California Conservation Corps? Was I a deadhead? Was I homeless? Or was I combination of all three?

Does it really matter? What I was, was someone’s daughter. I want to find my identity and my way home. Please help me do that by sharing this information with as many people as humanly possible. If you can, hit the key areas like the CCC and the deadheads. You never know when you might find that one person who knows exactly who I am.

Who is BOB DOE?

I look like your average everyday male. There is nothing in particular that stands out about me. I don’t have any tattoos or notable features of any type. I must not no one is mentioning them actually no one is mentioning me much at all.

Here is one thing you can note down. I’m dead. That’s right. “D E A D!” Dead. I said it, you heard me say it. “D E A D.” On December 27, 2007, my body was found along side the railroad tracks on Edinger Ave, East of Red Hill, in Tustin, California. My cause of death remains a mystery; they have it marked, “undetermined.”

My identity should also be next to check box that reads “undetermined.” I had no identification nor did my fingerprints garner any results. Therefore, my identity remains a mystery, very much like how I died.

I was about 45 to 55 years old. I had brown eyes and brown hair. My teeth were not the greatest I had some decaying going on. I weighed about 161 lbs, but my height can not be determined. By all appearances, with the exception of some bad teeth, I look like your average middle aged white guy. Except somehow I died and no one knows my name. So I’m an average middle aged dead & unidentified white guy.

Is there any chance you can help restore my identity? They came up with a forensic sketch of what I looked like. They have the actual images available for anyone who knows me to view and determine for certain, if I’m your missing loved one. I had a recognizable face when they found me. So this is something, something to go on. If anyone out there thinks they know who I am, please come forward and contact the Sheriff’s office. Tell them who that average middle aged white guy is, so they can figure out what happened to me and most importantly, who I am!

Rex Doe Story – The best years of your life?

Aren’t the teen years supposed to be the best years of your life? Something went tragically wrong for me. My life was brought to a bitter end. If that’s not bad enough, they don’t know who I am. So I’ve been robbed of my life and my identity. Being a teenage boy and all, I can think of a few choice words to describe this situation.

On April 3, 2004 partial remains of mine were discovered on a horse trail near 12100 Tampa Ave in Northridge, California. I could have been there for up to a year prior to discovery. What happened you ask? I can’t tell you that. Actually, there is very little I can share with you. I can only share what has been discovered so far. That means it’s up to you! That’s right you! It’s up to you to find out the rest of my story.

What I can tell you is that they believe I was between fifteen and twenty three years of age. Most likely, I was under twenty. I was a white male and I stood about 5’4. The only other information that could be determined is dental. Let’s hope it helps: My third molar was un-erupted, and #4 and #7-13 were missing postmortem.

I was young enough that my family, my parents are probably looking for me. Maybe, they think I’m missing? Maybe I took off? I’m not sure what they think. It’s been six years though, so someone out there has to be wondering what happened to me. Can you help me find that person? With your help maybe they can identify me and solve at least one mystery. Who knows once they figure out who I am, maybe they can figure out what happened to me. Let’s go for my name first! Hey wait; do you know who I am?

Lila Doe – I Just Want to Be ME Again!

There isn't much known about me because someone was angry (and selfish) enough to set my body on fire and leave me by the side of the road. They aren't even sure of my race! I'm hoping that maybe you can be the one to put a name to my face and help me become ME again!

On August 7, 1994, some passersby noticed what they thought was a pile of trash burning below a yellow guardrail in an open area at La Tuna Canyon Road half-mile East of the 210 freeway off ramp in the Angeles National Forest, in Tujunga, California. They got out of their car to take a look and to kick dirt over the trash (to put out the fire) – only it wasn't trash burning. It was me!

Authorities say I could have been either Asian (possibly Filipina) or Hispanic. They estimate I was 14 years or older, with brown eyes and medium-length black hair that was tucked beneath a wig. I was about 5’3” tall and weighed around 133 pounds. I wore what some folks call a floral print dress (and others refer to as a tunic) and tan slacks. I know...not much to go on, right? Well, maybe you'll recognize my jewelry. I was wearing a pair of yellow metal hoop earrings, a v-shaped yellow metal ring with a white stone and a medallion around my neck that has been described as either a Saint Christopher's medal or a picture of Jesus. I had several small moles scattered across my forehead and a distinctive gap between my two upper front teeth. They believe I was strangled somewhere else on that day and then dumped by the side of that road and set on fire.
Somebody, somewhere must be missing me! Are they still waiting, hoping that one day I'll walk through the door again? Parents, siblings, friends – whoever they are, they deserve a sense of closure. And I deserve to have a name – MY name! Please, can you help me?

I have family looking for me. I need to find them!

You can call me Pete, for now. I was killed by a gunshot in 1972. I was found in a gully at 2935 Athel Drive in Hacienda Heights, CA. It was November 5; I believe it was a Sunday. I remember that because, oh darn it, I don’t remember. I guess the gunshot messed my memory up. Look it was a Sunday, and I was killed. I’d sure like to know why, wouldn’t you? More pressing is to find my actual family and finally tell them what happened to me. I believe they are looking for me. It’s been a long time, but they haven’t given up hope that someday they will find me. Let’s help them. Here’s where you come in. See if any of this information below jogs your memory, or send it to someone whose memory might be jogged. I need your help to find my identity. So here we go:

I was a white male, 6'3", and 195 pounds. The coroner states that I had blond hair, yet all the missing people organizations say it was shoulder-length brown hair. No one seems to dispute that I had blue eyes. The coroner said I have a scar on my butt. The missing organizations elaborate and state it was a 4 ½" scar above my tailbone, and that I also had one on my right knee.

I was wearing a pink shirt, along with the best Lennon-like jean jacket with a zipper down front you’ve ever seen. It was FAR OUT you know what I mean man? Blue Levi’s with a flared leg. NCMEC says the jeans had “PEACE” embroidered on the bottom left leg and “LOVE” embroidered on the bottom right leg. I had blue flowered boxer shorts. To top off the look, I was wearing my brown leather boots. Wait there’s more. Remember it was the ’70s man, peace & love not war. I was wearing my white metal band ring, a yellow peace sign earring in my right ear and black rosary beads. I had the looks!

It doesn’t matter if I was hippie, buying or selling drugs, an undercover cop, involved in a love triangle, simply on my way to a party, or if I had just returned to the country after fleeing from service; there was no need to kill me!

It’s your turn now. Can you help solve my mystery? Help me find my identity and reunite me with my family. Please do all you can; I’m counting on you!

Arkansas Rose: I need a real name! Do you know me?

My life ended on January 24, 2000. I was very young they estimate that I was only in my early 20's. I was found engulfed in flames in the parking lot of the College Avenue Baptist Church at 6100 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego, CA. I had my whole life ahead of me. What happened?

Some very cruel and inhuman person or persons felt I needed to die. I'm wrought with grief in the gruesome manner of which my life was taken. My autopsy read "The woman had been stabbed and strangled to death. In addition, both of her hands and a portion of her left calf were missing, presumably cut off by the suspect to prevent authorities from identifying her." Who would have done this to me?

While I would love to bring the criminal(s) to justice, first I need to know who I am. Can you help identify me?

I was white.
I was in my 20's.
I was about 5'9 to 5'10.
I was 190 to 200 lbs.
I had light brown hair.

The doenetwork reported that I might have been from Arkansas originally.

Were you in San Diego in 2000? Did you go to church with me? Did you go to school with me? Was I your neighbor? Did I dance in a club you attended? Did I work at the local coffee house?

Are you missing a loved one in Arkansas that might fit my description?

Please someone, anyone, help me find my identity. If you know me call the police and tell them. If you know what happened call the police and tell them. If you heard a story that fits this one, call the police and tell them. I'll be eternally grateful. My family deserves to know what happened to me. If you can help please please do!

I just wanted a cigarette!

They think I was a transient, because I didn't have any ID or even a house key on me. It's possible the person who strangled me took those items with them. Right?

I mean, I just wanted to smoke ok. This guy came up on me. I'm not saying if I knew him or not. I'm just like outside Vern's Dinner, you know the one over on Mission Street here in Daly City. So I'm just like outside having a cigarette minding my own business ok. You can even ask those people at Vern's. I was there. I bought my Winston's there. Ok. So I'm standing outside having my cig and he came up on me and started in you know. Some people had to see him. I know there were people around having garage sales and coming and going from Vern's, so someone had to see him right. So why don't you go find him and ask what happened to me!

What you want more information. Ok fine. Let's say you can call me Lanie for right now. I'm like in my late 20's, 5'3, with brown hair and brown eyes.

I don't know why they think I'm a transient. Ok so I had three pairs of socks on. Maybe, my feet were cold or something, I can't recall. Come on though my shoes those were expensive. So how did I get the money to buy the shoes and cig's if I'm like a transient. Plus, I had a bottle of medication with me with a partial label from the Longs Drug Store. Those could have been my pills right? I'm just sayin.

Look I just want my family to know what happened ok. They pulled my body out of the ground to do some DNA thing. If my family ever see's my pic and come and check with them cops then maybe they can match me. That would be good thing. I'm tired of this hanging around. I want to find my family. You know .. so help me find my family ok. Look all you have to do is send this blog to everyone you know. Come on help me out. K.

Laura Smiles - CA Sacramento Unidentified Female, June 2001

I need your help! I need to know my name!

Until you can tell them who I am, you can call me Laura Smiles. I guess it seems appropriate as the artist shows my facial reconstruction with a big smile.

However, I'm sure I was far from happy in 2001. My remains were found on June 29, 2001, in Sacramento, California.

So here is what they can tell you about me:

Sex: Female
Race: Possibly White
Approximate Age: Late teens or early 20's
Height: 5'-5'5"
Weight: Unknown (thin to average)
Hair: Unknown
Eyes: Unknown
Outstanding Features: Has had a broken nose in the past

That's it. The biggest clue was that I had a broken nose in the past. Ok if that's all you have to go on .. use it.

What doctors could have treated my broken nose? What school may have records of student being absent for a broken nose, fitting my basic description?

Also an important fact is that the photo displayed here are my actual teeth!

If you are dentist and have treated me in the past this might be helpful: "Teeth are very well cared for; no dental cavities; teeth have plastic sealants; missing all first bicuspids (#5, #12, #21, and #28); possible prior orthodontics or preparation for orthodontics; all four wisdom teeth are present; lower wisdom teeth are not fully erupted."

Do you remember a neighbor that might look anything like the rendering above? Do you know me? Can anyone call the police and tell them who I am, or who they think I might be?

I would rest more peacefully if you could simply help!!

Mrs. Springs - Unidentified Palm Desert, CA February 1997

UPDATED: JULY 2010

I'm not very happy. On February 10, 1997, I was found dead in the hills behind the Desert Crossing Shopping Center, in Palm Desert, CA. It appears I had contusions to my legs and head.

Here is my 411: When I was found I was approximately 40 to 55 years old. I was 5'6, about 145 lbs, with hazel eyes, and no identifying scars or tattoos. My hair was shoulder length brown and gray mixed in. I had expensive dental work with crowns and root canal work.

The day they found me I was wearing a light colored striped shirt, blue denim pants, and a tan/ yellowish windbreaker jacket. I had very identifiable bi focal, large frame, prescription glasses.

The reason I'm not happy (other than being dead) is that I was wearing a wedding ring and yet here it is in 2007 and I'm still unidentified. We have all heard about unhappy marriages; but to never claim me, stand up and say my wife is missing, seems extremely unreasonable no matter how bad we fought. That is of course, unless it was my spouse that is responsible for my death. The problem with that theory is what about my parents, family, co-workers, neighbors, or friends, somebody would have to notice I was missing.

Here is the most suspicious thing about my death; when I was found I had my medicine and money, but all my id and identifying information was purposely removed. The officials claim that extensive searches were made but to no avail.

My picture seems like a pretty solid description. I hope simply looking at me you will have an AH HA moment and say I know that GAL. Please call the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at the information listed below and tell them how I am, or who you think I might be. Please!

Riverside County Sheriff's -

Coroner: (951) 443-2300

Reference Info: Year/Case#: 1997. # 97I0827 (Unidentified# 97-009)

UPDATED information brought to the attention by a reader. It seems the Sheriff has changed the location of where our unidentified was located. We did report previously by another reader that the shopping center was in Palm Desert not Desert Hot Springs, perhaps this was the tip that eventually led to the changes on the Sheriff's site. We are grateful to all readers who point out changes in the information as updated by local Local Law Enforcement, as well as, any and all errors made during the writing of the narrative.

Additional changes included location, clothing, superficial added to contusions, that she may have been disoriented and that extensive local searches have have not been successful.

1975 Riverside Unidentified Woman - Rubidoux Rose

Nobody knows my name. So until you can tell someone who I am, you can call me Rubidoux Rose.

On October 25, 1975, my lifeless body was discovered in the shallow waters of a drainage canal south of Newton Street in the Rubidoux area of Riverside, California.

I didn't have any identification on me. I was, however, wearing a silver-colored fork bracelet with one-inch prongs and a brown stone. I also wore a ring with a two-rose design and clear stone.

The police estimate that I was about 19 to 25 years of age. I was 5'8" and 135 pounds. I'm a black woman, described as having a short Afro hairstyle, 6" to 8" long.

While it's nice to have a temporary name of Rubidoux Rose, coined by this blogger--I want more than anything else to be identified for who I truly am. If you know me, please, please, please, contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner’s office. You may reference my NCIC number NCIC: 14TT070607 06X O16PM12. The Coroner’s number is (951) 443-2300.

I have hope that my family and friends are missing me. Maybe they think I left home, or maybe they moved and didn't know of my death. I just want to rest in peace with my true identity on my plot. Please let me rest in peace, call and tell them who I am.

Thanks Rubidoux Rose
