James "Jamie" Doe: I'm a child looking for my parents. Are they looking for me?

Bust by Frank Bender 2/8/10

No one knows who I am. Do you?

I am about 10 to 11 years old, or that's how old I was when they found me in the brush. I guess I was there near the edge of that wooded area for a couple months before someone found me.

On September 25, 1998, some guy cutting the bushes around a billboard found my skeleton. It was near Interstate 85 in Hillsborough, Mebane, North Carolina.

The cops that investigated my death said I was just dumped there. The bad people who dumped me didn't even cover me up or anything. I'm only 10 but I think that SUCKS. What did I ever do? Could I have been that bad that you would kill me and leave me on the side of the road like unwanted trash? I was just a kid!

Important Stuff To Know About Me:
I'm a male, white (maybe Hispanic or mix), 4'11, weighed 50 lbs, brown hair, with unknown eye color, about 10 to 11 years old.

They found a pair of Fox Polo Club brand khaki shorts, underwear and white tube socks still inside a pair of black, size three athletic shoes. There was no mention of a shirt.

Additional Facts To Know:
The Newsobserver reported that this case was to be featured on America's Most Wanted, but the 911 happened. This blogger couldn't find a record on AMW.com that shows this case was or wasn't featured. Chances are it wasn't.

The Doe Network reported that I "had sealants on the surfaces of the following teeth: 3, 4, 13, 14, 19, 29, 30; no cavities; teeth 4, 13, 20 decidious." Also that I had $50 in my pockets, specifically "2 $20s, 1 $10."

Many theories have been bounced around about me. They say that maybe I was the child of migrant workers, possibly illegals. Something bad happened my parents got scared and had to leave me. I don't believe that happened to me. It doesn't make sense. If my parents left me there, why didn't they bury me? On those old movies I used to watch when you bury someone you love you leave a stone, I think they call it a marker. Why didn't my parents do that for me?

Maybe my parents don't know I'm dead at all. Maybe I was stolen. Maybe I made a mistake and ran away. If I did, I didn't mean to.

I think I was scared and sad. You know right before it happened, right before I died.

I want my parents to know about me. I want to know my name.

Will you help me find my name? Will you help me rest in peace? Please tell as many people as you know to view my picture and see if they know me. If they have any information call the police. PLEASE!

$50 in a 10 year old's pocket? Seems like a very odd thing and may be a clue to pay attention to.

I couldn't agree with you more Missy. I'm pleased to report that Tim Horne is a wonderful investigator and working diligently on this case. Keep your fingers crossed that with this new bust someone will come forward and identify Jamie Doe soon.

It seems that having sealants on this dear boy's teeth shows that someone cared about him and took care of him. Then I wondered if he was one of those children who ends up in bad foster care situation and with caseloads so huge was never checked up on, and that is why no-one is looking for him.

This is truly sad. A child and no one has come forward to claim him?
May God re-unite him with his family, friends and community so he can receive a name and a dignified burial. May the person who holds the key to his cold case being solve be inspired to visit this site, do the needed research, and come forward and do the right thing.

What about this link: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/h/herrman_adam.html

about a boy that went missing around 1999 but was not reported as such until 10 years later! The missing year could have been earlier. The adoptive parents were giving sketchy details and there is no proof..but they think he was last seen in the summer of 1999. He had brown hair, blue eyes. Height and weight different, but again, 10 years after the fact, who knows? He lived in a trailer park at the time he went missing..so may not match up with the sealants and $$ in pocket but in his photos he looks well cared for, so who knows? What do you think?

Thank you for taking the time to try and help identify this child. Your time is definitely valued and appreciated.

I have been informed that Adam Herrman's time of disappearance was definitely in 1999. This young identified child we named James "Jaime" Doe was found in Sept 1998. Thereby Adam is not a match.

Again, your time and efforts are greatly valued. Please make sure to ask everyone you know to view this unidentified child. One day the right person will see him and we find out his true identity.

All My Best,

Size 3 shoes seem to be too small for a 10/11 year old boy. Could it be that he is younger than they think? My 11 year old wears a size 6 and last year he was a 5. Most of his friends wear the same size.

This unidentified young man was featured in an episode of The Missing follow this link to watch.

yes, I agree with the above comment- the shoe size and approx. weight seem very ( very) small for a 10 -11 year old. hmm. 2 of my kids are avg height /weight are 9 1/2 and are 4 and 4.5 for shoes, and 85 & 95 lbs each. I suspect this child to be younger and /or malnourished.

I have a ten year old who wears a size one and weighs 60lbs so yes, it's possible. Although she is a girl, but that shouldn't matter much

Good thought! He was apparently very tall and thin. . . my almost-10 year old son is about 60 lbs, and 4ft 5inches or something like that, and MY son is thin, so 50 pounds at 4'11" is a pretty small, tall child. Maybe with small feet too. . . my son wears a 4 1/2-5 shoe.
