I'm not a high diver! So who am I?

For the purposes of this blog you may call me Mr. Bailey. Unfortunately, no one can tell me who I am. As for me, I can no longer speak in the conventional method.

My remains were discovered on August 19, 1998 in the Mississippi River near the Huey P. Long Bridge. For anyone not familiar with the area that is in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. I had been in the water about two days when discovered.

I was approximately 45 to 55 years old with extensive dental work. I assure you I was no vagrant. The only clothing identified with me is a pair of shorts, but no specifics were provided on those shorts. I'm thinking I was shot during my sleep, this would explain why I was only wearing shorts.

Why am I not a high diver? Just let me say I've never spent my time off diving. Yet, the authorities believe I may have fallen off a high cliff. I say pushed. I'm unclear that is how it happened. I may have been tossed off a large vessel. One thing that is very clear is the gunshot wound to back of my head and trauma to my body. Did I shoot myself? I'd say NOT! So who did?

If you know who shot me, or who I am contact:

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office
Detective John Drury
504-364-5300

Please reference this Agency Case Number:
FC# 00-29

Very sad! I hope that the this person will be given back his identity & get justice. Through our circulating his story all over the Internet, may God lead the person(s) straight to this site where they'll find his story & come forward with tips & information. People need to talk!

I really like that the victim was telling his own story! My brother was missing for many years until his skull was found in the river! And this is how he was identified! So God bless you guys for the work you do! I will pray "Mr. Bailey"

Can You Identify Me?

There is so little information available in this case - such as height, weight and ethnic background, marks, scars and previously broken bones, medical conditions - and even whether or not the dental work was likely done in the US. Is it possible to find more info anywhere?

Hi Leigh,

You are right. In some of the cases you'll find limited information is available due to the state of remains when found. The LE/ ME team puts together the best information they have and publishes what they feel is appropriate in each matter.

For the facts, I'll refer you to the following two links (but you'll find the same limited information):
LSU: http://identifyla.lsu.edu/profile.php?id=377
NamUs: https://identifyus.org/cases/full_report/2263

I recommend you visit sites like Porchlight and Websleuths to see if their research teams have pieced together additional information. Many times people take the CYIM narrative and link over to those sites post it and open discussion (if one hasn't already been open). This allows you to collaborate research ideas, thoughts, methods and information with others seeking to help resolve America's Unidentified crisis. You'll find some good people over on those sites.

If you have any questions about this case, or any other, or need further assistance or direction don't hesitate to contact the office directly. I'm happy to help you in anyway I can.

Thank you for your continued dedication to CYIM and America's Unidentified.

All My Best,
Rebel J. Morris

I know I posted a comment on this guy some time back but on the far right of your blogspot it refers to his case and asks if we think he is a victim or not. Unless this guy, at the time leading up to the time of his death, was seriously suicidal and just wanted to end it all, I think he was a victim and was pushed to his death. Someone wanted him to be removed from the face of the earth and staged this as a "possible suicide" to throw LE off. My opinion. May God return him to his family, his identity restored.
