Princess Doe--This Story Is No Fairy Tale

Headlines could have read “Teen Beaten to Death at Cedar Ridge Cemetery.” The reason they could have read that is because that’s what happened.

On July 15, 1982, a 14- to 18-year old homicide victim was found on cemetery grounds off State Hwy. 94 in Warren County, New Jersey. Authorities believe she may have been deceased for up to one week prior to discovery. The girl was white, had shoulder-length brown hair, weighed about 110 lbs. and stood 5'2".

That headline, that girl, she was me. I was killed by a pimp, who claimed I was part of his stable. He claimed he beat me to death.
I’m popular you know? I have had books, TV shows, and movies done about me. And in 1983, I was the very first unidentified victim to be entered into the FBI’s national database. The FBI wanted to help figure out who I was. Like many others who have been entered into that database since 1983, I remain unidentified.

Lots of interesting tidbits about me are out there. Let’s see, stories surfaced that I was a maid in Ocean City, MD, from 1979 to 1982, a runaway from FL, the daughter of a dentist, and I was killed by a serial killer (actually a couple serial killer names were tossed around).

One of the tidbits out there was a theory that I might have been Diana Dye, a missing girl from California. A flyer comparing me to her was made and circulated nationally. My remains were exhumed and a DNA test was conducted. All they could extract was mitochondrial DNA (MtDNA). This form of DNA can only be compared to maternal relatives. Once they had this form of DNA, they compared it to Diana’s mother. Turns out, I’m not her daughter. She’ll keep looking for her daughter like they’ll keep looking for my identity.
Another one of those tidbits was more like a prediction by some psychic detective. The psychic said I was killed by someone already in jail. Turns out, the psychic was right. My pimp, the killer, confessed years after that prediction was made and he was serving time for another crime. In talking with him and a witness to my killing, the cops learned I was most likely from the Long Island area.

The cops have come a long way in trying to figure out who I am, but there is still more road ahead. I hold faith that the road will lead them to my identity and my family.

1981 Essex County had 161 Murders

My name is June Doe and I’m just one more number from the list of victims that died in 1981. One more statistic! One more dead woman!

Who was I? Thirty years later, my identity remains a mystery. I have stats. I have a forensic rendering. I have hope. What I don’t have is life. Mine was ended; ended early. See, it's estimated I wasn’t even 40 years old yet. More likely, I was 30 to 35 years old.

You have to be amused by this situation. What else is left? There is humor in everything, including the fact that I (like many others) remain unidentified after so many years. It’s hard to fathom how people can actually remain dead for years and years and no one, not one person, knows who they are. As I said, you have to find humor in it; otherwise, you’d remain depressed for a lifetime. You don’t end up depressed forever. So, find a bit of humor in the broken system that can’t figure out who I am.

So, what do they know? I’m a black woman, 30 to 35 years old. I stood about five feet, four inches tall. I weighed about 145 pounds. I had a lot of dental issues and even received extensive dental work done at some point in my life. I had black hair. Apparently my eye color is unknown. Let’s take a stab in the dark, no pun intended, and say I had brown eyes. I had pierced ears, although only one ear for certain could be verified as pierced. Again, it would be an assumption to say they both were pierced.

Was I a waitress? Was I a receptionist? Was I a street walker? Was I a mother? Was I the girl you passed that night and never paid any attention to? Some think my clothes and jewelry will help lead you to a better of idea of who I was. So here we go: When I was found, I was wearing a blue jacket, floral print top and a red skirt. My jewelry consisted of a brooch on my lapel, a silver bangle bracelet, and a nondescript post earring in my left ear. So do you now know what I did for a living? If yes, please tell them. You never know. Maybe it will help them figure out who I am. The reality is my clothing probably didn’t lead you to any big breakthrough in learning my identity.

The humor thing: it’s interesting that someone said I may have been part of a series of homicides. Well, I was found on September 29, 1981 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey. I was actually killed earlier that month. The interesting or humorous fact is that 161 people were killed in 1981. So yes, most say I was part of a series of murders. That’s rather evident by the outstanding number of people who were killed that year! I think what they meant was I was part of a related set of murders that took place. Maybe all women? Maybe all black women? Maybe all street walkers? Or just maybe all black female receptionists.

No, my death is not funny. No, it’s not funny that 161 people died in Essex County, New Jersey in 1981. It’s not funny that a string of related homicides took place, meaning other women mostly likely died by the same perpetrator who killed me. And it’s most definitely not funny that I remain unidentified for 30 years. None of it is funny.

It’s time to clean up the humor, solve and fix the problem and restore my identity. Who am I?

Addy Doe: Who Am I Really?

Do you know the Garden State Parkway out in Galloway Township, New Jersey? How about Jim Leeds Road near milepost #42? Maybe you know that wooded area along that stretch of roadway? Well on December 6, 1971, that’s where they found me.

I probably wasn’t from the area. They know this because I didn’t match any missing girls in the area and they believe that someone dumped me while passing through, probably on that Garden State Parkway. I guess I could have been from anywhere in the country or beyond.

The really neat thing is that even after all these years, the good guys are still working hard to figure it all out. Okay, it’s true they don’t know who I am, but they haven’t stopped trying to figure it out. They’re pretty cool cats!

What they do know is that I was between fourteen and eighteen years old. I was about 5'3" and 118 lbs., with light brown hair and had really great teeth. My clothes were normal for the time period; you know, blue cotton shirt, blue/white/orange striped hip hugger pants and brown sandals. I also had a Westclox watch.

Oh, and there’s some speculation that I might have been wearing a wig. Something about blond, brown and reddish-brown hair coloring were evident. Not sure what all that means. I guess, maybe, I wore a wig? Or, here’s a thought: maybe those extra hair strands weren’t mine? I’m sure there are multiple possibilities, but let’s leave all that to the good guys to figure out. Anyway, that’s pretty much what you have to go on to figure out who I am.

Back in the day, many families sent in letters to see if I might have been their missing daughter, and many were ruled out. The thing is, there was no DNA back in the ’70s. Hopefully, all those families can be ruled out by DNA now, or maybe, my family can be one of them? Or maybe some other family could come forward looking for me.

I could have been kidnapped, but I also could have been backpacking to see the world. It was the ’70s, after all. Hopefully, my family couldn’t care less about the reasons why I left, and are still out there looking for me. I sure am looking for them, as are my friends at the New Jersey State Police and the Galloway
Township Police Department.

Genevieve Doe - Keepin’ It Real

If we had met somewhere along the way, I bet we might have been friends. Maybe we’d have gone out for a burger or a pizza and talked for hours - you, know, just keeping’ it real. Instead, I have to keep it real by telling you that we’ll never have the chance to do that anymore. I won’t get to grow old, spend any more time with my family and friends, or even go out for a pizza…because my life ended way too soon - and right now, no one seems to know who I am. This blogger is calling me Genevieve, but maybe you can be the one to give me back my real name; everybody deserves to have their own name, right?

So…what happened to me? On October 18, 2007, they found my remains along the side of the road in Bayonne, New Jersey, at what they call the ‘jug handle’ of Hook Road and Route 440. They aren’t sure how I died, but estimate it was only weeks prior to discovery. They do know I was a black female, between the ages of 16 and 20. I was between 5’2” and 5’5” tall and weighed somewhere around 118 to 138 pounds. I had my very own special sense of style! I was wearing a pink Pascal Tex brand tank top (size Medium), Vigoss brand camouflage pants (size 11/12), a black Puff brand bra with red lace around the cups (36C), pink Pascal brand boys short underwear, a silver body chain around my waist, a clear brown plastic ring on my right thumb and white ankle socks with orange toes and little green bears around the top. My hair was black with 28-inch long brown braided extensions.

Does any of this sound familiar? Were we friends? Does my face look like someone you used to know…or even someone you loved? Maybe we were neighbors or classmates; maybe we even went out for pizza! Are you the one who can finally help investigators give me back my name?

They Call Me “Tiger Lady”

I’m dead but not forgotten. The detectives working my case have always seen me as a real person, why shouldn’t they I was. They are working hard to discovery my true identity. I deserve a name.

Hunters found me a truck parking area off Interstate 80 and Route 46 at intersection of route 94. For those of you who are not familiar with the roads near the Delaware Water Gap, I was found in the woods in Knowlton Township, New Jersey, in October 1991.

My body was badly decomposed and it took awhile to come up with a potential composite drawing that was close to resembling me. However, they did come up with a drawing that might help.

You are probably wondering why they call me Tiger Lady! I have a Bengal Tiger on my left calf. It’s a very intricate tattoo, someone should know this tattoo. Maybe you have one, or you know someone who had one, or you know where you might be able to have this tattoo done? It’s the tattoo that caused them to nickname me Tiger Lady. It’s nice to have a temporary name, until someone (maybe you?) can tell them who I really am.

Details about me that might help you identify me:

Caucasian Female
Age: 17-19 Years Old
Height: 4'10" - 5'2"
Weight: 95 - 110 lbs
Eyes: Brown
Hair: May have been dyed Light Brown or Ash Blond
Tattoo & Pierced Ears (left one pierced four times)
Dentals available
No clothes were found

If you have figured it out by now I was killed. Some fool actually had the balls to kill me. They haven’t caught that person yet. That’s okay the killer will get justice. It’s my time now; I need to let my family know what happened. I need you to help them figure out who I am. Can you help? Will you tell everyone you know about my situation? Someone out there has got to know who I am. I believe with your help I’ll find that person. Thanks
