Jane Hamden Doe

Hamden is where you can find me these days. I have a temporary resting spot there. It might become my final resting spot if no one ever figures out my real identity so that my family can be contacted and I can go home one last time.

If you haven’t guessed, Hamden is a cemetery. This is where I am, Hamden State Street Cemetery, Hamden, Connecticut. Do you wonder where I’m from? So does Law Enforcement. They have been trying to figure out that mystery for well over thirty years now.

On August 16, 1975, I was found floating in a drainage ditch behind an old Bradlees Department Store in East Haven, Connecticut. Some trucker happened upon me there on that frontage road and called the authorities. I was murdered. I was murdered somewhere else and dumped off back there. Just dumped there! There is a lot of speculation about where I came from and how I got there. The reality is that I was bound, gagged, killed, and dumped.

I won’t accept that no one misses me. I don’t care if you can’t find a missing persons report. I know one is out there somewhere, or someone tried to report me missing but the authorities didn’t take the report. In the 1970s, very few law enforcement agencies took missing persons cases seriously. I hope that’s changed in year you are reading this. I believe my family does and is missing me. I believe someone is looking for me. We just have to find them.

Unfortunately there is not a lot of information to help. The basics:

Date found: August 16, 1975
Poss Date of Death: days earlier

White Female
Age: 20 something
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 125 lbs.
Hair: Brown, parted in the center
Eye: Brown/ Hazel

I had some dental work done. I also might have had a nose job, which might make it harder for my family to find me. Unless of course, they know about the cosmetic work I had done.

You know I might not have been from the United States at all. Maybe I was a mail order bride. Maybe I was visiting for school or family reasons. There are many maybes and we can speculate all night long but that won’t help me now. It’s been well over thirty years. It’s time something is done to find my family.

"The Nation River Lady"

They call me “The Nation River Lady” and “one of Canada's most enduring mysteries” - but I would rather just be ME. Thirty-five years is too long to have gone without my own name! Can you help authorities finally figure out who I am?

On May 3, 1975, I was found floating face down in the Nation River about 100 yards from the Highway 417 bridge. The Nation River is west of Casselman, Ontario and just thirty five miles east of Ottawa. I was wearing only a light blue undershirt or body suit, pulled up to my shoulders. A man's necktie had been used to tie my wrists and two more to tie my ankles. One of these ties was known as a ‘Canadian Tie’ and had three Canadian emblems on a navy blue background. The necktie was made in Montreal and sold by various stores in the province of Quebec and in the eastern part of Ontario.

There were two fringed, green cloths around my head (one of them a tea towel printed with an old Irish/Gaelic blessing), and a distinctive black plastic-covered co-axial cable had been tightened around my neck. This cable was the type used in cable television hook-ups and there was a splatter of gray paint on it. Investigators learned that the cable was manufactured in Renfrew, Ontario and distributed in the Ottawa, Hull, Montreal and Brockville areas. They estimate that I may have been strangled as early as the summer or early fall of 1974 and thrown into the river.

I was Caucasian about between 25 and 50 years old, 5’2” to 5'3” tall and weighed about 100 pounds. My hair was shoulder length and brown (but had recently been dyed a reddish blonde) and my eyes were blue. I had extensive dental work – including partial upper and lower dentures – and had also had my appendix removed.

They said that I never had children, but I was still someone's daughter. I had friends, loved ones...maybe even a husband! Can you be the one to help put a name to my face?

1975 Riverside Unidentified Woman - Rubidoux Rose

Nobody knows my name. So until you can tell someone who I am, you can call me Rubidoux Rose.

On October 25, 1975, my lifeless body was discovered in the shallow waters of a drainage canal south of Newton Street in the Rubidoux area of Riverside, California.

I didn't have any identification on me. I was, however, wearing a silver-colored fork bracelet with one-inch prongs and a brown stone. I also wore a ring with a two-rose design and clear stone.

The police estimate that I was about 19 to 25 years of age. I was 5'8" and 135 pounds. I'm a black woman, described as having a short Afro hairstyle, 6" to 8" long.

While it's nice to have a temporary name of Rubidoux Rose, coined by this blogger--I want more than anything else to be identified for who I truly am. If you know me, please, please, please, contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner’s office. You may reference my NCIC number NCIC: 14TT070607 06X O16PM12. The Coroner’s number is (951) 443-2300.

I have hope that my family and friends are missing me. Maybe they think I left home, or maybe they moved and didn't know of my death. I just want to rest in peace with my true identity on my plot. Please let me rest in peace, call and tell them who I am.

Thanks Rubidoux Rose
