What’s better: Ms Bones or Jane Doe?

I’ve been called Jane Doe, Ms. Bones, Miss Bones and I’m sure a few other names in the process of trying to figure out who I am. The name Bones doesn’t really seem considerate. I’m surprised they didn’t name me Bones Doe. I guess they’ll leave that unfortunate name for some unidentified male. When you die and they don’t know your name they saddle you with some unfortunate semi-descriptive name. In my case, my bones happened to be housed in boxes shuffled from office to office while they tried to figure out who I am. Hence, Ms. Bones.

In the process of shuffling me around, they did learned that I was a Caucasian female, 20 to 25 years old, who stood between 5'3" and 5'6" and weighed approximately 110 to one 130 pounds.

Right about now, you might be wondering how I ended up as bones in boxes on a coroners shelf. Well, brace yourself: on October 1, 1985, a road crew was mowing a ditch area near Interstate 20 in Smith County, Texas when they ran the mower over my body. One investigator was quoted as saying, “The contact scattered bones far and near.” However, we have to chin up and strive forward. You now know why my bones are in boxes on a shelf. The good thing is they gathered enough of me to give you that approximate aforementioned description of me.

In addition to finding me, they found a wadded pile of clothes that rested near me. One item in particular, a shirt, has caught interest of my advocate. On a side note, yes I have an advocate, her name is Betty. She found the shirt very interesting. The shirt was a yellow pullover with an armadillo on it and the phrase "Top Rail Country Music, Dallas, Texas". Plus it had a lace collar. Betty tracked down the club where the shirts were sold. Then she found the actual individual who ordered all the promotional clothing and he said they were never made with a lace collar. It’s very interesting and might hold some significance. The shirt was not the only item they found. I also had white Dickie shorts and canvas sandals. For the record, I was also wearing gold butterfly earnings and a gold watch.

Additionally, they found red hair fibers at the scene. My hair and eye color vary from source to source, but mainly the hair color reads as brown. If my hair color is brown, what are the red hair fibers that were found at the scene? Another important note is they believe that I could have been deceased up to 18 months prior to my run-in with the mowing crew. It was unfortunate for me that my skeleton was scattered by the mowing crew. Kind of a good news/bad news situation for me. If the mowing crew hadn't found me, I could have been left out there alone longer – but they didn't see me in enough time to avoid scattering and shattering my bones into pieces.

Many law enforcement investigators have worked to try and figure out who I am. One of the former investigators went on to teach at a local college, others retired and many still work on finding the answers today. Law Enforcement is not doing this alone. I have my own advocate, Betty. Betty is working tirelessly, scouring through missing persons photos to try and find me.

It’s funny thinking how I’m found and lost at the same time. Then again, no; it’s not all that funny. I’m not the only box of bones on a shelf in a coroner's office. You can ask Betsy James Cooper, right here at Can You Identify Me? -- the good people who are bringing you my story. She knows of many others like me who are lost and found at the same time. You can also ask the thousands of family members who search for their loved ones everyday, they know about those who are lost and found. Those family members just want to find their loved one, like I want to find my loved ones. I’d like my real identity back now.

Paulie Doe - Nice to meet you

The year was 1985. It wasn’t too unlike any other year. Well the weather was earth shattering cold in the Eastern States. I understand it had something to do with the polar vortex being shifted and causing this meteorological event they tagged the Arctic Outbreak. Of course, that probably helped them with the release of the Weather Center the longest running TV show dedicated to weather only news. I don’t know if the weather had anything to do with Live Aid that took place in July and was followed by Farm Aid in September. It’s possible the weather was huge part of why they held these concerts. But what do I know? It’s not like I’m the expert on concerts. Or was I?

1985 was definitely a memorable year for me. That was the year I was released from my earthly body. Or in lament terms, that was the year I died! Of course, I didn’t just die. Actually, I was killed. Yeah, that was my 1985.

On October 1, 1985, my body was found on Loudon County Road. This really remote and rural area called Buttermilk Pike – yep that’s what they call it – Buttermilk Pike! Me, Paulie dumped in a place they call Buttermilk Pike. Can you believe it? It’s someone's sick joke that’s for sure. I was found with two bullet wounds to the head. I know who you are. You know who you are. I can’t take care of you from here, or so you think – you just wait my friend. You’ll get yours; just wait for karma to come collecting. Oh sorry I got side tracked. I just wanted to give a close friend of mine a shout out. Now back to business.

Where was I?

Oh right, Buttermilk Pike is this rural area of Tennessee. To be precise I was found in Lenoir City, Loudon County, Tennessee. They guess I was killed somewhere else and dumped here. Yeah! Anyway, I was probably dead for a week or two prior to being discovered. The problem is they don’t know who I am.

Well I was a white male about 51 to 60 years old. I stood roughly about 5’6 or 5’7. I had removable dentures and medical implant of the aorta. And I had something going on with my tibia and fibula and lumbar vertebra. Come on I was no spring chicken, I had some health issues, but who doesn’t. I wasn’t killed because I had a bad ticker. Nope. What else? Oh yeah, I had this bracelet that I wore. You know the one! Well if you know me, you know the bracelet.

So who am I? I probably had a wife, maybe some kids? Maybe I had a son or two to carry on my name. They are probably looking for me. So these artists people you know they drew me or something. Well what I might have looked like that’s what they tried to do. So here is what you have to do, you have to take this art of me and show everyone. Got it? Take this sketch thing of me and show everyone you know and tell them to show everyone they know. Listen, I’m counting on you. I know that you are good people. I know you’ll help me. Let’s find my family.

GINNY DOE - It’s Not Fair!

People are not supposed to die unless they are very, very old or very, very sick. So what am I doing with my picture on this blog, dead without anyone knowing who I am? It’s not fair! They think I was somewhere between 10 and 14 years old. Stuff like this isn’t supposed to happen! I should be looking forward to my first date, dreaming about prom or maybe still playing with Barbies. So what happened to me?

On April 3, 1985, someone found my remains (yuck - I hate that word) just off of Big Wheel Gap Road, four miles southwest of Jellico in Campbell County, Tennessee. The investigators think I was killed one or two years earlier on the edge of the strip mine and then tossed down the slope. So unfair!

They found a pair of size 5 hiking boots near my remains but they are unsure if they belonged to me. I had a bracelet and a necklace that were made of plastic buttons. Those investigating say I may have been from the Appalachian area, possibly Kentucky or Tennessee. So there you have it other than this information, an approximate age and the fact that I was a young white female, they know nothing about me.

They’ve compared my DNA and dental records to quite a few young girls who could possibly fit my description but so far there has been no match.

A forensic artist was kind enough to create a reconstruction of my face. Please take a close look at it and send it to your friends. Someone must know who I am! Somewhere, someone must be missing me!

Sandra, Molly, Bet and Mary

You can call us Sandra, Molly, Bet and Mary if you want. The names are in order by our age from the eldest to the youngest. But those are not our names. We have been dubbed with Temporary Doe Names.

I’m Sandra, I’m 23 or 32 or somewhere in between. I may have been a mom. I was a woman. I was alive. Then I was found dead. Three children were also found dead. This is our story.

In November 1985, my remains along with that of a child approximately eight to ten years old were found stuffed inside of a 55 gallon metal drum. Disposed of like toxic waste. The drum was located near Bear Brook Garden Trailer Park near 22 Edgewood Drive in Allentown, New Hampshire. While the homicide report online shows the cause of death as withheld, the media reports that both of us were killed by blunt force trauma. It’s also been noted by several sources that our deaths were brutal and viscous. The child that was found with me may have a family connection to me. I was killed with this child and disposed near this trailer park sometime between 1977 and 1985.

The above seems horrid and unbelievable, but it gets worse. In May 2000, another metal drum was discovered only but a mere 100 yards away. This drum contained two children. Both children had been murdered. One of these two children the youngest, one to three years of age is also believed to be my child. From testing the third child age four to eight years old cannot be confirmed as being related. Two more children, whether my blood or not, most definitely I cared for them, I loved them and I feared for them! They were found 15 years after they discovered me. They had only been 100 yards away. My child. My agony. My pain.

Here is what little information there is that might help you:

SANDRA DOE– 23 to 32 years old, given birth, stood about 5’2 to 5’7, and had curly light brown hair approximately four inches long

MOLLY DOE – 5 to 10 years old, approximately 4'3 tall, had double-pierced ears, and had dark blonde or light brown hair

BET DOE – 4 to 8 years old, approximately 3'8 tall and had a noticeable overbite

MARY DOE – 1 to 3 years old child was approximately 2'5 tall and had fine blonde hair, approximately 8 to 12 inches in length

We were all White or Native American.

Can you help us? Can you help pass around the forensic images that might help identify us? Will you ask everyone you know to pass around our images and our story? Someone out there must know who we are. Someone out there must be missing us. Please help us find our way home. These children deserve headstones with their given names.

UPDATED NOTE OCT 2011:
*These victims have a potential family connection. Department of Justice is waiting for Nuclear DNA tests that are pending to learn more about the family relations. The above was modified slightly to remove any affirmation that she was a mother or the mother of these children.

Update Note June 2013
Tests have confirmed that she is the mother to two of these young victims.  The third child also appears to have a family connection.

Are you missing me?

You can call me Oscar! I was 20 to 30 years old when I was killed. Yes, I was killed.

In April 1985, my body was found in a metal trash container. The container was located during the excavation of a mall in Glen Burnie, MD. Do you know the Marley Station Mall? That's the site which was under construction in 1985. That's where they found me.

I was a young white guy. I was about 5'8 to 5'11 feet tall. My hair was brown. I was slim dude. When I was killed, I was wearing my blue and black sweater, some slacks and leather shoes.

I guess I had unusual keys, because the Doe Network pointed them out in their post about me. They said that I had "what appeared to be an apartment/hotel key with some letters."

Was I suppose to work on this construction job? Was I in town for something else? Based on the weird keys, maybe I didn't live here, just visiting or in town for a job. Whatever the reason I was here, someone didn't want me here. I guess I pissed someone off. Must have, they killed me and dumped me in a metal trash container. DAMN that bites. I had my whole life ahead of me!

Here's the thing, while it bites that I was killed, it's worse that they can't identify me. So are you missing someone? Do you know of someone who is missing? It was back in 1985, and well, I was pretty studly looking guy, so someone has to be missing me. I need YOU. Yes, YOU. To pass my picture around to everyone you know. I don't care where they live now, or where they lived before, they might know me, or someone who does. So copy my picture or forward this post to everyone know you. Help IDENTIFY me. Come on how can you resist, I'm still a pretty studly guy even from the heaven's above! I need to rest in peace. Please help me!
